Class 3 have enjoyed our music lessons where we have been listening to a beat and practising moving, clapping and playing musical instruments in time to the beat.
Numeracy – Halving and Quartering
In our Numeracy lesson we got to make jam sandwiches and then half and quarter them! We were very care to make sure that all of the pieces were equal when we were cutting the sandwiches!
Numeracy – Halving
Mrs Reeve’s Numeracy group have been working hard to half numbers, using the unifix cubes to help check that the number has been shared equally.
Science – Planting daffodils
In Science this term we have been learning about seasonal changes. Even though it is getting colder now, we know that in a few months Spring will be starting and with that comes green trees and new plants. Class 4 wrapped up warm to plant some daffodils bulbs in our school grounds. We can’t wait to see them grow!
Numeracy – Pattern Making
In Numeracy this term we have been looking at different patterns and sequences. We started our learning by looking at colour patterns. We were all very creative and thought of some interesting repeated patterns; we even challenged our friends to see if they could continue our pattern! We are now learning how to find sequences in numbers.
Literacy – Performing a Poem
Our topic, in Year 1, this term is Amazing Animals. In literacy we have been looking at different stories and poems about animals. We looked at the poem, “There was a wise old owl” in small groups we practiced reciting the poem. To successfully perform the poem we spoke clearly, slowly and with expression.
Body
In Science we have been taking our learning outside of the classroom! We have been learning about the different parts of the human body, and we were challenged to make our own body using natural materials on the playground. We could name all of the parts of the body! Can you?
Finding Trees
Class 3 have been looking carefully at the trees and plants we can find in our school grounds, and looking at how they have changed. Here we are being nature detectives, trying to work out what kind of trees are growing in our school by looking at their leaves!
Comparing Length
In our Numeracy we have been comparing lengths. We were given our very own magic wands and challenged to find things around our school grounds that were longer, shorter or the same length as our wands!
Diva Lamps
In Class 3 we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali in RE, and the story behind it. After hearing the exciting story of Rama and Sita we made our very own Diva Lamps, just like the ones used to celebrate the festival of light!
