Forest Schools – Toasting Marshmallows

10th June 2019 By andrewgraham

When we started our session we asked the children our three forest school rules which are, we don’t run, we don’t eat things off the floor and when we do fire lighting we never touch the fire. After our rules we showed the children all the tools and materials we will need to light a fire.

Whilst the fire was burning we told the children what else we will be doing and this was….. MARSHMALLOWS!!!! The children seemed super excited to have marshmallows! They crawled on their knees to the fire, turning their kebab sticks over the fire. They then went and sat down, blew on the marshmallow due to it being very hot and ate them!

After our session we talked to the children about how we never leave the fire, we used the reasons; ‘because the babies might burn their hands’ and ‘an animal might hurt themselves’. The children watched as we poured the water over the coals causing a puff of smoke to leave the fire pit.

Bling your bike or scooter day!

24th November 2017 By andrewgraham

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents and children who worked hard to decorate bike and scooters for “Bling your bike” day. We were amazed to see 100 beautifully decorated bikes and scooters brought into school! Today’s event was not only the start of our festive celebrations, but also to raise the profile of active journeys to school.  We have recently started using the “WOW travel tracker” to monitor our journeys to school and hope that even over the colder winter months children can make at least one active journey to school a week.

Outdoor Classroom Day

6th June 2017 By andrewgraham

Fun in the sun! The whole school including the nursery spent most of the day outdoors building dens, making bird feeders, planting flowers and vegetables and creating bug hotels. The children had a fantastic time and learning such a lot!

Eco Code – Music Video

8th March 2016 By andrewgraham

As part of our Eco Work and commitment to promoting green issues we have worked hard to develop our new eco code. The Year 2 children came up with the ideas and wanted their favourite tune – Uptown Funk. We hope you enjoy watching our video and that our message is clear.

“Believe in us and just watch!”
